Age is just a number and Harriet’s here to wiggle her cute little brindle self right in to your lap and heart! Yes she’s absolutely a lap buddy but the couch or bed will do too. She’s not picky. Just being with her humans is the thing that makes Harriet the happiest girl alive. And that’s what she’s looking for humans she can shower with love. She’s a lover of all the things…..every person she’s ever met, other dogs she’s just a good, sweet girl looking for the perfect retirement home. Shes chill. Basically a couch potato sort of dog who loves belly rubs and won’t destroy your stuff. We just know we can find the perfect home for a dog like Harriet. Who wouldn’t love a happy, smiley senior pittie. We know we do!

And we weren’t the only ones to fall for this sweet girl. Harriet had a whole fan club at the shelter. They loved her so much she kept getting extensions in their efforts to save her life. Harriet was at the shelter for 60 days! That’s a really long time for our overcrowded shelter to hold any dog. Harriet really did have a whole bunch of guardian angels looking out for her. The moment one of our amazing fosters said yes we had her out and Harriet has never looked back.

There are so many benefits to adopting an older dog and Harriet is hoping all her positives will convince you she’s the one. She knows stuff like walking on leash and sitting for treats. She’ll even talk for her treats and takes them so nicely. She’s perfect in her crate and actually loves it. It’s her favorite little den when the humans aren’t home to hang out with. She’s playful and will totally play ball but isn’t obsessed and as soon as you’re done she’s happy to be done too. She loves her toys and never destroys them. Shes a happy nonreactive girl who isn’t overly bothered by the reactivity of other dogs. She just ignores their naughtiness. Harriet is a gem and can’t wait to find her people. Think those people might be you? Get that application in so this sweet girl can have the home and family she’s been waiting for!

Here’s what you need to know about adopting a cat or dog from Marley’s Mutts:

  • Each adoptable pet will be introduced on Facebook
  • Each pet will have its own profile here on the website
  • All pets will be spayed or neutered
  • All pets will be micro-chipped and shots will be up-to-date
  • Each pet has their own application to complete—make sure you use the right one (linked from their bio)

It’s important to us that each pet goes not just to a great home but to the “right” home. Our foster parents work with each pet to get to know them and their needs.

We try hard to list all of the pertinent info about each pet on the site so you can choose the pet that will fit with your family/lifestyle. If you don’t see a specific pet on the site, he/she is not ready for adoption. Please be patient and wait until the bio is listed. We don’t decide on a “first come, first served” basis but rather on a “who’s the very best fit.” So, don’t panic.

It’s not a quick process. We receive dozens of applications for each pet so please be patient. If you’re shortlisted you’ll be contacted as soon as possible.

If selected to meet one of our pets and you currently have pets, you’ll be asked to do an in-person pet intro; we don’t do the long-distance adoption thing. If you live out of town, plan a fun road trip to meet the pet in person.

Don’t be discouraged if your application is not selected. Remember, we get a lot of them! Trust us, the best fit for you is coming.

If you’re lucky and you do adopt a super amazing pet from Marley’s Mutts, don’t ever hesitate to reach out to us for training, medication, or behavior questions. We’re here for you, and your pet.
