Sweet, mellow and the perfect little lap buddy Charlie is happiest when he’s with you. He’s a lover of humans and every canine friend he’s ever met. He has a gentle spirit and the softest big brown eyes. He’s not looking for any kind of conflict simply wants a safe warm space where he can be loved and give love in return. He’s a kind and easy boy who would fit in with most family environments and we can’t wait to find him his perfect home.
We don’t know how Charlie ended up in a high kill shelter or why his people didn’t claim him or the 5 other dogs who were part of his family all we know is his life changed the moment he arrived through shelter doors. 4 of Charlies canine friends were picked up by another rescue and he and one other were left behind. Maybe it was their darker coats (they were the only two black dogs in their group) but whatever the reason they needed help and we gave them the lifeline they were waiting for. Charlie’s canine buddy has been adopted and now it’s Charlie’s turn to find a forever home.
Charlie is great with other dogs, curious about kitties and likes to chase the chickens in his foster home. His games of chase are all in fun and he never hurts the chickens even when he’s in close proximity. Charlie is house trained with a doggie door and loves to lounge around with his humans with occasional play breaks to hang out with the younger male dogs in the home. He’s a master sun bather and professional cuddler who fits right in wherever he goes. If you think sweet Charlie just might be your perfect fit apply to make him a permanent member of your family.

- Each adoptable pet will be introduced on Facebook
- Each pet will have its own profile here on the website
- All pets will be spayed or neutered
- All pets will be micro-chipped and shots will be up-to-date
- Each pet has their own application to complete—make sure you use the right one (linked from their bio)
It’s important to us that each pet goes not just to a great home but to the “right” home. Our foster parents work with each pet to get to know them and their needs.
We try hard to list all of the pertinent info about each pet on the site so you can choose the pet that will fit with your family/lifestyle. If you don’t see a specific pet on the site, he/she is not ready for adoption. Please be patient and wait until the bio is listed. We don’t decide on a “first come, first served” basis but rather on a “who’s the very best fit.” So, don’t panic.
It’s not a quick process. We receive dozens of applications for each pet so please be patient. If you’re shortlisted you’ll be contacted as soon as possible.
If selected to meet one of our pets and you currently have pets, you’ll be asked to do an in-person pet intro; we don’t do the long-distance adoption thing. If you live out of town, plan a fun road trip to meet the pet in person.
Don’t be discouraged if your application is not selected. Remember, we get a lot of them! Trust us, the best fit for you is coming.
