With the squishiest softest marshmallow face ever and beautiful green eyes that will have you at hello what’s not to love about Mellow. He’s a super sweet boy who loves with his entire heart. He can be sassy and silly when he’s feeling playful and very bubbly with the people he loves and trusts. He’s a kind soul who needs a little time to warm up to strangers but once you’re in you’re part of his trusted circle. Mellow loves his canine friends and lives with several large dogs in his foster home. This sweet boy is looking for a family to give him the time he needs to feel comfortable and he promises they’ll get a lifetime companion fully devoted to them in return.

We don’t know much about Mellows history or what shaped his insecurities with new people but like so many other large and medium size dogs Mellow was picked up as a stray by animal control and never claimed by his family. He waited over a month at the shelter. A month with no interest and no chance of getting out alive. But an amazing foster family noticed this sweet boy and Mellow got the break he so desperately needed.

Mellow has fully embraced life in his foster home. He’s crate trained and doing well with his house training skills. He’s a cuddle bug who loves to be pet and will lay nicely on the end of the bed if you let him up. He enjoys just chilling in the house with his people and foster bestie Tango and will follow you from room to room. He also has a goofy and fun side that makes him even more endearing. He LOVES to play “tag” and will literally chase you and gets even more excited when you reciprocate the behavior and chase him. He enjoys all the stuffed toys and isn’t a toy destroyer. He’s great on leash, takes treats gently and has mastered calm quiet behavior on public outings. Basically just a good boy looking for a great family. If you can give Mellow the forever home he’s looking for get that application in he’s ready to fund his very own family to love.

Here’s what you need to know about adopting a cat or dog from Marley’s Mutts:

  • Each adoptable pet will be introduced on Facebook
  • Each pet will have its own profile here on the website
  • All pets will be spayed or neutered
  • All pets will be micro-chipped and shots will be up-to-date
  • Each pet has their own application to complete—make sure you use the right one (linked from their bio)

It’s important to us that each pet goes not just to a great home but to the “right” home. Our foster parents work with each pet to get to know them and their needs.

We try hard to list all of the pertinent info about each pet on the site so you can choose the pet that will fit with your family/lifestyle. If you don’t see a specific pet on the site, he/she is not ready for adoption. Please be patient and wait until the bio is listed. We don’t decide on a “first come, first served” basis but rather on a “who’s the very best fit.” So, don’t panic.

It’s not a quick process. We receive dozens of applications for each pet so please be patient. If you’re shortlisted you’ll be contacted as soon as possible.

If selected to meet one of our pets and you currently have pets, you’ll be asked to do an in-person pet intro; we don’t do the long-distance adoption thing. If you live out of town, plan a fun road trip to meet the pet in person.

Don’t be discouraged if your application is not selected. Remember, we get a lot of them! Trust us, the best fit for you is coming.

If you’re lucky and you do adopt a super amazing pet from Marley’s Mutts, don’t ever hesitate to reach out to us for training, medication, or behavior questions. We’re here for you, and your pet.
