Momma dogs are some of the most overlooked in rescue. People turn away from their less than perfect exteriors and more often than we’d care to think about every puppy will find a home while their momma is stuck waiting. Waiting for months and sometimes even years. It’s not fair and these momma dogs are often some of the most amazing dogs we’ve ever met. Dogs like Wendy who over came so much hardship to give her puppies life.
Wendy lost her home and her family in a house fire. She was the only surviver. Super pregnant she was resourceful and somehow found enough to eat to keep her unborn babies alive. She took shelter under the burned out remains of her deceased families trailer and that is where her babies were born. For 3 weeks she kept every single baby safe, fed and alive. What an amazing momma this beautiful girl was! And thankfully she had some guardian angels. Good Samaritans who didn’t want to see her or the puppies live this life. They reached out for help and we were able to say yes!
Wendy’s babies are grown and every single one adopted but this sweet girl is still waiting. Why is she waiting? Because she’s an overlooked momma dog of course. She’s also a little on the shy side and so many adopters want instantly social. Wendy has every reason to be a little shy. She’s been through so much but if you’re willing to invest a little time building trust she’ll be your very best friend. She’s a sweet girl who’s done fabulous on pack walks and is ready to find a family to love. Are you looking for an amazing girl who just needs a chance? Please consider Wendy an overlooked momma dog hoping to have a home and family of her own

Here’s what you need to know about adopting a cat or dog from Marley’s Mutts:
- Each adoptable pet will be introduced on Facebook
- Each pet will have its own profile here on the website
- All pets will be spayed or neutered
- All pets will be micro-chipped and shots will be up-to-date
- Each pet has their own application to complete—make sure you use the right one (linked from their bio)
It’s important to us that each pet goes not just to a great home but to the “right” home. Our foster parents work with each pet to get to know them and their needs.
We try hard to list all of the pertinent info about each pet on the site so you can choose the pet that will fit with your family/lifestyle. If you don’t see a specific pet on the site, he/she is not ready for adoption. Please be patient and wait until the bio is listed. We don’t decide on a “first come, first served” basis but rather on a “who’s the very best fit.” So, don’t panic.
It’s not a quick process. We receive dozens of applications for each pet so please be patient. If you’re shortlisted you’ll be contacted as soon as possible.
If selected to meet one of our pets and you currently have pets, you’ll be asked to do an in-person pet intro; we don’t do the long-distance adoption thing. If you live out of town, plan a fun road trip to meet the pet in person.
Don’t be discouraged if your application is not selected. Remember, we get a lot of them! Trust us, the best fit for you is coming.
If you’re lucky and you do adopt a super amazing pet from Marley’s Mutts, don’t ever hesitate to reach out to us for training, medication, or behavior questions. We’re here for you, and your pet.
