Sometimes the sweetest souls hide behind a shy exterior. These incredible spirits are simply waiting for that opportunity to trust and their chance to shine. Cheyenne and her 3 pups are just a few of those lost souls who simply needed someone to believe their lives had value. We are so thankful we could give them the time and the chance they so desperately needed.
Picked up as strays this little family was terrified. The world was scary, so many people had never been kind and the shelter was absolutely terrifying. They sat huddled in their kennel too scared to move and way too scared to interest potential adopters. No one gave them a second glance and as the days ticked by and turned into a month their fate was sealed. Their lives would end if no one said yes. They weren’t adoptable and sadly no public shelter can give scared dogs an indefinite amount of time to find adopters. But our staff saw them and our yes saved their lives!
Shy dogs take time and this little family is learning to trust and quickly winning each of our hearts.
*Momma Cheyenne is super duper sweet and affectionate once she knows you. She’s very treat motivated so that’s helping her trust quickly. She’s very tolerant of her babies and has a goofy side that goes perfectly with her short little legs.
*Sioux was initially the most shy of the puppies. She now runs up happily when she sees staff, plants her little feet in laps and happily gives all the puppy kisses. She’s also a big fan of treats and has a ridiculously cute underbite.
*Lakota is the most outgoing and is so sweet she’ll give you a toothache. She’ll crawl into laps for cuddles and adores people. If you want a snuggler this is definitely the girl for you!
*Navajo is the only boy in the group. He’s shy but his sweet side always wins out and treats absolutely help boost his confidence. His short little legs are guaranteed to make you smile.
A chance is all this sweet family needed and now they’re ready to start looking for homes. If you love the shy pups as much as we do and value the loyalty they give once trust is earned please consider giving one of these amazing souls the forever family they’ve never had

Here’s what you need to know about adopting a cat or dog from Marley’s Mutts:
- Each adoptable pet will be introduced on Facebook
- Each pet will have its own profile here on the website
- All pets will be spayed or neutered
- All pets will be micro-chipped and shots will be up-to-date
- Each pet has their own application to complete—make sure you use the right one (linked from their bio)
It’s important to us that each pet goes not just to a great home but to the “right” home. Our foster parents work with each pet to get to know them and their needs.
We try hard to list all of the pertinent info about each pet on the site so you can choose the pet that will fit with your family/lifestyle. If you don’t see a specific pet on the site, he/she is not ready for adoption. Please be patient and wait until the bio is listed. We don’t decide on a “first come, first served” basis but rather on a “who’s the very best fit.” So, don’t panic.
It’s not a quick process. We receive dozens of applications for each pet so please be patient. If you’re shortlisted you’ll be contacted as soon as possible.
If selected to meet one of our pets and you currently have pets, you’ll be asked to do an in-person pet intro; we don’t do the long-distance adoption thing. If you live out of town, plan a fun road trip to meet the pet in person.
Don’t be discouraged if your application is not selected. Remember, we get a lot of them! Trust us, the best fit for you is coming.
If you’re lucky and you do adopt a super amazing pet from Marley’s Mutts, don’t ever hesitate to reach out to us for training, medication, or behavior questions. We’re here for you, and your pet.
