Liberty

Sex: Female

Breed: German Shepherd

Estimated Date of Birth : 01/24/2020

Some lights are impossible to dim and Liberty possesses one of those lights. Regardless of the past she was forced to endure she holds no grudges. Happy and vibrant she’s living for the life she never had. A carefree spirit in a world where negativity surrounds us from every corner. It’s impossible not to smile when Liberty is in the room. She loves every person and dog she’s ever met and meets each day with the enthusiasm of a dog who’s just happy to be alive. She’s a testament to the resilience of dogs and deserves the very best home we can find her.

Liberty has lived through more horrors than most of us will see in a lifetime. She was part of the 50+ hoarding and neglect case with California City based rescue group Pawfect Companions. When she arrived in our care she was a literal walking skeleton open wounds covering her extremities. She’d been starved and forced to live in a small wire crate in a garage surrounded by dozens of other dogs in similar condition. We’ll never understand how someone can inflict such atrocities on creatures who have no voice. How the lack of care was considered acceptable and basic necessities like food could be withheld. Liberty is lucky to be alive and despite everything she’s been through is one of the happiest dogs we’ve ever met.

Although Liberty is still healing she’s gaining weight rapidly and ready to start the journey of looking for an adoptive home. A home where her carefree spirit will never be stifled and she can live the life she was meant to have. A life that includes love, laughter, light and more liberty than she’s ever known. We can’t wait to see who chooses to give this girl her chance!

Here’s what you need to know about adopting a cat or dog from Marley's Mutts:

  • Each adoptable pet will be introduced on Facebook

  • Each pet will have its own profile here on the website

  • All pets will be spayed or neutered

  • All pets will be micro-chipped and shots will be up-to-date

  • Each pet has their own application to complete—make sure you use the right one (linked from their bio)

It’s important to us that each pet goes not just to a great home but to the “right” home. Our foster parents work with each pet to get to know them and their needs.

We try hard to list all of the pertinent info about each pet on the site so you can choose the pet that will fit with your family/lifestyle. If you don’t see a specific pet on the site, he/she is not ready for adoption. Please be patient and wait until the bio is listed. We don’t decide on a “first come, first served” basis but rather on a “who’s the very best fit.” So, don’t panic.

It’s not a quick process. We receive dozens of applications for each pet so please be patient. If you’re shortlisted you’ll be contacted as soon as possible.

If selected to meet one of our pets and you currently have pets, you’ll be asked to do an in-person pet intro; we don’t do the long-distance adoption thing. If you live out of town, plan a fun road trip to meet the pet in person.

Don’t be discouraged if your application is not selected. Remember, we get a lot of them! Trust us, the best fit for you is coming.

If you’re lucky and you do adopt a super amazing pet from Marley’s Mutts, don’t ever hesitate to reach out to us for training, medication, or behavior questions. We’re here for you, and your pet.
