Full of life is exactly what we want a puppy to be and Rome doesn’t disappoint. This adorable boy is happy with everything life throws his way. He’s happy to see people, he loves other dogs, the neighborhood cats don’t seem to bother him and human kiddos are amazing too! If you’re looking for a social butterfly then Rome can show you how it’s done. Everyone is his very best friend!
You wouldn’t expect such a happy go lucky dog to be the product of a lifetime at the shelter. Yes you read that right Rome litterally grew up at our county shelter. He started off life in the shelter as a two day old nursing pup. He was adopted 3 months later but that didn’t last long. 4 months away and he was sent right back. We guess raising a puppy was just too hard. Rome then lingered for another 2 months before we got him out avoiding the very strong possibility of euthanasia due to space. We are so thankful his time in the shelter never dampened his spirit. He remains enthusiastic about the next stops on his journey to adoption.
After a short stay at our rescue ranch Rome quickly found an amazing foster home. He’s now learning how to live in a house and be the amazing adult dog we know he’s going to be. He’s working on his leash manners with lots of community walks and continuing to socialize with both humans and other dogs. He has zero food aggression and an eagerness to absorb all the positives life now brings him. This vibrant boy is officially adoption ready and we can’t wait to find him his perfect home!

Each adoptable pet will be introduced on Facebook
Each pet will have its own profile here on the website
All pets will be spayed or neutered
All pets will be micro-chipped and shots will be up-to-date
Each pet has their own application to complete—make sure you use the right one (linked from their bio)
It’s important to us that each pet goes not just to a great home but to the “right” home. Our foster parents work with each pet to get to know them and their needs.
We try hard to list all of the pertinent info about each pet on the site so you can choose the pet that will fit with your family/lifestyle. If you don’t see a specific pet on the site, he/she is not ready for adoption. Please be patient and wait until the bio is listed. We don’t decide on a “first come, first served” basis but rather on a “who’s the very best fit.” So, don’t panic.
It’s not a quick process. We receive dozens of applications for each pet so please be patient. If you’re shortlisted you’ll be contacted as soon as possible.
If selected to meet one of our pets and you currently have pets, you’ll be asked to do an in-person pet intro; we don’t do the long-distance adoption thing. If you live out of town, plan a fun road trip to meet the pet in person.
Don’t be discouraged if your application is not selected. Remember, we get a lot of them! Trust us, the best fit for you is coming.
